He kept his eyes before them, looking across the glistening sky and towards the west. The sun would be setting soon, but OH what a wonder it would be to watch the blue sky turn in wondrous color.
He held tighter to Pam as her question came. He didn’t expect this to last, but he wished they could enjoy it for at least a little longer.
“Nothing lasts forever Pamela..”
He whispered into her hair. It pained him to say, but hadn’t they been proven such time and time again? He reached down deep inside him to find something positive.
“You’re the only thing I can count on.”
He smiled proudly then kissed the top of her head.
His words were true and no matter how much she enjoyed being in the light, she knew that it could be taken away as easy as it was given. She closed her eyes and rested her head against Eric’s chest savoring what she could.
She whispered quietly to him and she meant it. She would be there for him until given the true death always and forever. She looked out over the horizon as the sun slowly began to fade, she couldn’t remember what a sunset looked like but she would finally get to see another
"I wish this could last a little longer"
She smiled looking up at him, it felt nice to be held in his arms again. Nothing and no one made her feel more loved than Eric and as her maker he would always hold a piece of her.
He couldn’t help but laugh. He gave her a nod and kept his eyes upon her own.
“Yes, and you aren’t helping our case by saying such things.”
He assured her and brought his hands to brush through her hair. The gold spun strands slipped from between his fingers, and the sun brought each strand to sparkle before his eyes. The corners of his lips pulled taut and he looked past Pam onto the glistening horizon.
He gripped the round of Pam’s shoulder and gave her a spin around. He closed the space to stand behind her and brought his arms to cross around her neck. He leaned into her as they viewed the skyline together. He dropped his chin to rest upon the top of her head, nestling within her nest of hair.
“We are standing on the cusp of a whole new world.”
She laughed, she couldn’t help but feel a bit sentimental they were seeing the light for the first time in what felt like eons. What was an eternity of living in darkness had suddenly changed. Looking up at Eric she just smiled, there was so much more to explore about the day.
As he spun her around Pam laughed softly and leaned back into Eric. She held his arms around her, never wanting him to let go and leave her again. The emptiness she felt when he wasn’t around was like a black hole inside of her but being so close filled the emptiness and made her feel whole again.
"A new world indeed"
Now that vampires could walk the day, she could imagine a whole new world of possibilities.
He had kept his eyes from her to shield the tears that welled within. He couldn’t help but let them slip as he listened to his daughters words. She lifted his head toward her own and the tracks down his cheeks seemed all the more colorized within the sunlight. The crimson tracks grew as more tears fell.
His lips spread into a smoothed smile. He wavered backward away from Pam slightly. He brought up a hand and rubbed the curve of his hand against his eyes, trying in vain to push away the tears.
She had taken from him his own feelings and thrown them into the open air. He had never thought that he would ever be grated the gift of sharing the sun; this world, with Pam. He had visited her, in her mortal years often, always under the cover of darkness wondering just how her life lingered within the day. He often fantasized of her alight within the bright light, a softness to her face and a radiance within her eyes. Now this was made truth; real and it was too much to bare.
He chuckled out despite himself.
As the crimson tears rolled down his cheeks, Pam smiled as her own began to well into the corners of her eyes. She shook her head and gave a small laugh of her own
"Look at us. A progeny and her maker standing in the sun, crying. I like us better when we’re cold and heartless"
She laughed and tried wiping the tear that had begun to fall. She gazed beyond the balcony, looking upon the beautiful city. She had never seen it during the day and it was beautiful, it seemed as if everything the light touched turned into something more beautiful.
Becoming aware of her thoughts she almost scoffed, she loved being a creature of the night but there was something about the way the sun radiated off of her maker that made her love the sunlight. She took a step forward filling the space he had created and wiped his tears with her thumbs. She smiled and stood on her tip toes kissing each of his blood streaked cheeks
"Over a hundred years we’ve spent traveling the world together and now we stand in the sun. This better than anything I could have ever imagined and I get to share it with you."
He pulled Pam in closer to him. He wanted to feel the warmth radiate from off of her porcelain skin. He gave her the warmest of smiles and cupped her cheek in the open palm of his hand.
He spoke softly to his progeny and gave the curve of her cheek a once over with the pad of his thumb. He stepped inward to close the space between them and rested his forehead upon her own. He let his eyes drop closed and he was certain that if his heart still beat it would near be breaking within this moment. He simply stood there feeling the heat fall down around them and it brought a new sense of pride having Pam this close.
“This is better than I’ve dreamed..”
His smile radiated down upon her, flooding her with such a sensation she almost felt human again. She brushed her fingers against the hand that rested on her cheek, his beautiful pale skin felt warmer and as he stepped forward she wrapped her arms around his neck.
She could feel the heat glowing off of them but it didn’t bother her. Pam drank in the emotion and sensation of the moment, she had missed him so dearly and now to be so close she felt at home once more. She breathed deeply, inhaling his scent, her forehead still pressed to his.
"This is better than a dream"
She spoke softly looking into his blue eyes, as the sun’s rays shined down on them she felt a euphoric sense of happiness and freedom. She remained silent for a moment taking in everything he had to offer before she broke the silence
"Thank you Eric, I hope you know that whatever is going on with you that I’ll be here. I would die a thousand times over for you and this moment, being able to stand in the sunlight with you, is something I will be eternally grateful for"
Taking hold of her hand, he fit his fingers between the spaces of her own. He gave his arm a push to hook around her slender waist before taking strides forward for the door.
“Yes, we will.. I promise you this.”
He wondered if Pamela knew just how crucial of an element she was to his life. He cared about very few in this world, but she was among those that mattered fiercely.
He led his progeny through the confines of their darkened surroundings. Stopping before the door he took a breath. Using his free hand he gave the knob of the door a jiggle and pushed the door open.
The rush of light and warmth engulfed him completely and left him to squint. It was almost too intense to bare. He managed to move forward, keeping his beloved close against him. They reached the railing of the balcony which over looked the city and he turned his glance onto Pam to take her in, in a whole new brilliance.
It was almost heartbreaking for Eric to see his daughter this way. The light reflected against her soft milky skin beautifully and he could see her eyes alive in a wondrous glow. He stepped back and brought a hand to simply brush down the side of her face.
She smiled, nodding her head and giving his hand a small squeeze as they walked towards the door. Pam would not ask him about it any further, she knew he would tell her when he was ready.
As the door swung open she half expected to hear the sizzle of her burning flesh, moving closer to Eric however her skin did not burn as the warm rays touched her. She smiled in amazement the feeling of warmth washing over her body. It was overwhelming at first her eyes squinting as the glare of the sun reflected off them.
She did not remember the last time she had seen sunshine and as her eyes adjusted she began to see the world in a new light once more. The brightness was intense yet with Eric by her side she knew she was safe.
The sun glinted off of his blonde hair perfectly and as she looked upon her makers face she just smiled in his beauty. Everything about the light was so unknown to her, the way it caressed his skin and highlighted every feature of his face as if he was glowing
Pamela had always been there when the Viking had needed her most. He found solace within her amidst the rocky tide of the world. He reached a hand upward to rest upon the back of her hand to press it more firmly upon his face. His blue hues peered into her own and he gave a nod to his head.
“I know you will darling, that is the one constant I have in this life. Now, before we venture any farther, come, I want to see the sunlight dance within your hair.”
As he pressed her hand upon his cheek an overwhelming sense of comfort washed over her. She felt their bond coursing through her veins and the entirety of her being. He was her everything, friend, lover, and father, just the thought of him being in pain made her writhe within.
"Anything you wish Eric, I also desire to see the sunlight touch your skin however I do request we talk about this eventually. I want to help you"
She takes his hand in hers, intertwining their fingers and awaiting him to lead them out into the new light of the day
Oh excuse me, it seemed to me earlier that you were bored and looking to talk to someone, then you had to get all bitchy with me just because I didn’t know who you were, i wasn’t aware that I was magically supposed to know that information. As for me wasting your time, you’re still here aren’t you, you can leave whenever you see fit, I really don’t care.
Calm your tits blondie, no need to make a scene.
I was bored but then you started speaking and I realized I would rather be bored however you are cute so I won’t leave just yet
Night has been my silent companion for five hundred years, I longed for the sunlight for so long. Call it a grudge. I’m sure when I grow tired of the day I will merrily embrace the night again, but until then. I’m going to buy a yacht.
A yacht? Sounds nice, I should convince Eric to get one although I’ve never seen him as much of a boat person.
